TTC - Tesla Talking Car
When Elon Musk announced that X.com was building its own AI, I was excited. I knew this was what Tesla needed to create their own version of a talking car - like "Kit" from the TV show Knight Rider that was in the 1980s - if you're old enough like me to remember it.
Right now, you can talk to your Tesla car and give it voice commands for various things. The car will then execute the piece of software associated with that voice command. Here are some common examples:
* Make it warmer
* Make it colder
* Go home
* Stop navigation
* Display Superchargers
* Navigate to ...
* Open the glove box
* Text message to [name]
These are useful voice commands, along with the many others available, but one thing is missing - and that is a personality for the car. Tesla is opening up their software for developers to create their own APIs and one of the first things I hope to see is a programmed car with personality.
This should be easily doable with Grok because it is a language model like ChatGPT, and it understands natural language communication. You don't need to give it simple voice commands. You can ask it questions, and it will respond with text that is relevant to what you are saying. All that needs to happen is a voice needs to be attached to the text.
This should be doable - there are already a number of voices programmed to speech already, and I could see developers making their own or even having their own personality type for the car, such as chill, sarcastic, etc...
I propose there not even be a button for this, but instead it be activated by saying:
"TTC" or "Tesla Car"
“A car, that talks back to me”’…
With Grōk this seems like only a matter of time …

Grok AI and Other Uses for Tesla
Grok AI can be used for a TTC - Tesla Talking Car - but there will be other uses for it as well. The main thing to think about is that Tesla is opening up their software for developers to create their own applications. Like the Apple app store, this will give birth to a large amount of creative applications - especially if people get paid for creating their own Tesla app.
Gaming will be one way this is utilized. Elon Musk has talked many times about being able to play a game in a Tesla while the car drives itself. This isn't a reality yet, since a Tesla's software is driver assisted software and requires supervision at all times. But at some point in the future, this will change.
Grok will have a default personality that is based on sarcasm, which seems to be like Elon Musk. More details on Grok AI include:
* A 25,000 character context window
* Screen refresh response speed
* "Live" search engine focuses on X for context
* API, image recognition, and audio recognition is planned
* A version of Grok will run "native" in Tesla using local computer power
The last two are the most important for creating a TTC and a car with personality. With Grok running on the Tesla computer in the car, you have everything you need almost right away to have a car that can speak back to you. You could even start with having a voice prompt and a voice response. This, right away, creates a car that talks back to you. The personality part of it can be programmed by Tesla and other developers augmenting the software.

What do you think about Tesla creating a TTC (Tesla Talking Car) with personality? Will this be available soon?
Looking forward to Grok AI creating a Tesla Talking Car (TTC), a car that talks to you with a personality. #grok #tesla #ai pic.twitter.com/dx0A0sTVn3
